Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a drum set to start lessons?

Not at all. We can begin with just sticks and a practice pad. This is perfect for anyone checking out drumming for the first time— and when you’re ready to level up, we’ll help you find affordable gear.

At what age can kids start learning the drums?

The earlier kids start learning the drums the better. Kids minds are in a high development at younger ages, and they absorb information very quickly. Starting drum lessons at an early age can increase focus and coordination. At The Xgroove we teach kids as young as 6 years old.

Am I too old to learn the drums?

You are never too old to learn the drums. No matter what age you are, learning how to play the drums can lift your spirit and enlighten your soul. It teaches your brain to keep learning and growing and will inspire you to take on new challenges. In fact, our drum teacher Chad Peters started playing at a later age of 17.

Am I too uncoordinated to play the drums?

With our easy-to-understand lesson plan, our drum teacher will break down the drum parts into very simple coordination. Once you understand the individual parts of the drumbeat, you will then gradually piece it together and play a full drumbeat. In your free trial drum lesson, you will learn how to play a basic drumbeat.
